Ukraine’s top security body has ordered putting nuclear facilities under tighter protection.

“To minimize the threat of the subversive use of nuclear and other particularly vulnerable facilities on Ukrainian territory, the Ministry of the Interior must take urgent exhaustive measures to ensure their more effective defense,” Andriy Parubiy, secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, told a briefing on Wednesday.

Moreover, the Interior Ministry and Security Service were ordered to “implement mutually coordinated measures to prevent the illegal importation into the country of weapons, ammunition, explosives and means of mass destruction, and radioactive and narcotic substances, and to have them removed from illegal trade on the territory of the country,” Parubiy said.
